Ribonucleotide reductase (EC 1.17. 4.1; RR) plays a central role in the de novo synthesis of
deoxyribonucleotides required for DNA replication and repair (1, 2) and there is a strong
correlation between the activity of the enzyme and the rate of cellular replication (3, 4). As
such, RR offers a particularly attractive target for neoplastic agents directed against rapidly
