The proximal tubule epithelium relies on mitochondrial function for energy, rendering the
kidney highly susceptible to ischemic AKI. Dynamin-related protein 1 (DRP1), a mediator of
mitochondrial fission, regulates mitochondrial function; however, the cell-specific and
