11β-Hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 2 is selectively expressed in aldosterone target
tissues, where it confers aldosterone selectivity for the mineralocorticoid receptor by
inactivating 11β-hydroxyglucocorticoids with a high affinity for the mineralocorticoid receptor.
